Shlomit | Counsellor

Introduction

I’m Shlomit Mintz, a registered counsellor and trained educational psychologist with over 10 years of experience supporting individuals of all ages. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and I believe that everyone deserves a safe, non-judgmental space to be heard and supported. My goal is to create a warm, collaborative environment where you feel understood and empowered to navigate life’s challenges.

I work with people experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional stress, life transitions, parenting challenges, and behavioural or learning difficulties. My approach is tailored to each client, drawing on evidence-based therapies such as CBT, EMDR, ACT, and psychotherapy. I believe that therapy is most effective when it fits your unique needs and pace, helping you build resilience, process difficult emotions, and create meaningful change.

Whether you’re facing ongoing stress, recovering from trauma, managing depression or anxiety, or navigating a major life change, I am here to walk alongside you. My style is gentle, supportive, and collaborative, ensuring that every session feels safe and constructive. I welcome you to reach out and take the first step toward feeling heard, understood, and supported.

Online therapy

I offer online therapy sessions primarily via Google Meet, but I’m happy to use any platform that is convenient for the client, such as Zoom or Skype.

Qualifications and registrations

I am a trained Educational Psychologist and a registered counsellor with the New Zealand Association of Counsellors (NZAC). I have over 10 years of experience working in educational and clinical settings both in New Zealand and overseas, supporting individuals of all ages. My professional development includes extensive training in evidence-based approaches such as psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy, along with a range of other therapeutic tools. I integrate these approaches into my practice to tailor sessions to each client’s unique needs, helping them feel supported, heard, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

As a member of NZAC, I adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines, and I continually update my skills through ongoing professional development and training. These qualifications, registrations, and memberships ensure that I provide safe, effective, and evidence-informed support to clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life challenges.

I generally recommend weekly sessions to allow for focused, consistent progress. The total number of sessions varies depending on each individual’s needs, ranging from 5–10 for shorter-term support to longer-term therapy for more complex or ongoing concerns.
